Amanda Falk is a visionary songstress from the wide-open prairies of Manitoba, Canada. Her childhood was spent on the family farm exploring her imagination and love of music. With the guidance of dedicated teachers, mentors and a musical family, her piano skills flourished. Amanda was given a unique opportunity to learn about life, God, music and the mystery of how the three intertwine, making her who she is today.
Classically trained throughout her childhood, she completed her Performer’s ARCT in piano by the time of her graduation. Amanda’s first timid notes were played in her home church, where she began using music as an expression of worship. Through serving in a downtown church in Winnipeg she continued to learn about the capability music had to draw her closer to the Lord.
It was through singing in this church that Amanda was first discovered. Although she hadn’t explored the idea or recording or writing songs, a small independent label took her under their wing. In the next five years she recorded two albums, toured with bands like Starfield and Kutless, and garnered a dozen or so awards, including a Juno for her self-titled debut release in 2006. Through the “Beautiful Unique Girl” ministry with Family Life Network, Amanda used her platform as an inspiration for young women to find their true identity. She also toured across Canada and the U.S. leading worship and speaking at many youth events, conferences and festivals.
After an intense year of touring Amanda felt her focus shifting. This began a new season of resting, writing and pursuing the presence of God. While visiting places like International House of Prayer and Eagle’s Nest Ranch she re-discovered intimacy with God, hearing his call on her life more clearly than before. Amanda used this time to write new songs every day. Soon producer friend Adrian Bradford approached her with the idea of recording a third album. What came from this time of obscurity was “In Between the Now and Then”, her first album to be released through Signpost Music, the independent label founded by artist Steve Bell and Dave Zeglinski. This storybook album is Amanda’s most personal release to date. It tells the story of a young woman on her journey of life, faith, and the mystery of the Lord colliding with the world in which she lives.
