Your Child – Lyrics |
your child.
I am worn and weary
What I’ve known as home is gone
Everything I trusted can’t be found
And I’m left here singing
A simple song
My heart is heavy
Redemption – Lyrics |
redemption.
everything that I was to blame for
was a trade for
Your hand in mine
the spear that pierced the side of my Savior
was a payment for my life
See You Again – Lyrics |
see you again.
This life is totaled
You moved to a better place
A place beyond the sunrise
And we’re still standing on the earth you left behind
With years left to finish
Song for Matthew – Lyrics |
song for matthew.
oh are you really gone oh are you really gone
oh are you really not coming home with us, with us
oh are you really gone oh are you really gone
Horizon – Lyrics |
horizon.
You’re my horizon
You bring the light in
You bring me hope when hope is gone
You’re my horizon
You bring the light in
You break the dark with the dawn
Look for the Light – Lyrics |
Look For The Light – Amanda Falk
there’re too many things to count I can’t explain
and the more I figure out the more I don’t know anyway
like the question why always remains the same
In a Moment – Lyrics |
in a moment.
have you ever loved somebody so much you could not feel the span of time
you couldn’t explain why with every look in her eyes the weight of the world shifted
We Will Wait – Lyrics |
we will wait.
Can you see us
Cause it’s getting hard to breathe down here
Are you near us
It’s getting greyer.
The black and white is gone
The clouds have crowded their way in
Landslide – Lyrics |
landslide.
our love is
a disaster of infinite proportion
and I’m caught in the after math of your affection
like a time bomb
I’m waiting on the moment to arrive
Symphony – Lyrics |
symphony.
there was a girl, dark haired and wide eyed
looked at the world, strong willed and unafraid to put up a fight
though she appeared tough on the outside
Unbreakable – Lyrics |
unbreakable.
I was a seed
Scattered within a forest of trees
That burned to the ground in fall and winter covered me
But spring found me Your sun melted all of the things
No More Shadows – Lyrics |
no more shadows.
why are we living in the shadows of yesterday
the ashes from last night’s cigarettes have blown away
still memories, they haunt us, of the
people we used to be
That’s What You Do – Lyrics |
That’s What You Do – Amanda Falk
Homeless
That’s how I feel when you’re not with me
Restless
I cannot concentrate on anything
But your eyes, and your smile
Paper Planes – Lyrics |
paper planes.
every single star at night
is called by name to shine
with the brightest brilliance I’ve ever seen
this is who you are to me
and I am driving down the road

Jacob Moon – Talks About New Disc, Maybe Sunshine |
Six new songs are now available in the form of a little musical postcard I’m releasing called “Maybe Sunshine”. By doing fewer songs, I found myself at liberty to do more with them, and so the songs on this record are very personal, and have a more contemporary sound.

Jazzed by Signpost’s Winners at the GMA’s |
Congratulations to Steve Bell and Mike Janzen for winning at the Gospel Music Awards this past weekend!
Steve Bell won for Jazz/Blues Song of the Year – Embrace the Mystery. A song with only four lines of lyrics…. Congratulations also to Gord Johnson who wrote this song for Steve’s multi-nominated album Devotion. Produced in Vancouver by the legendary Roy Salmond, Devotion is a surprising collection of rich and thoughtful worship music drawn from Scriptures, the Liturgy and inspired, in part, by the tradition of Taize. Steve was unable to attend the award ceremony, as he was on tour in British Columbia, Canada.

Carolyn Arends’ New CD – Love Was Here First | preview and review |
by Steve Bell
I am always astonished at how much Carolyn Arends can pack into a pop song. Her songs are consistently like those mythological abodes of fairy-tales that are magically bigger on the inside than they can possibly be from the outside.

Producer’s Notes on “Everything We Need” |
This is the only tune on Devotion I knew prior to Steve showing up at the studio in January 2008. The writer, Gord Johnson, taught it to a bunch of us at an artists retreat put on by IncarNATION Ministries in the spring of 2007 in Whistler BC. So it seemed an obvious place to start rather than trying to learn new tunes…
New Video | Janzen’s Jazz |
I got to know Mike Janzen back in 2001 (ish). Due to scheduling complications, the keyboard player hired to play on my Waiting for Aidan tour had to cancel just weeks before it began. In a panic I called bassist Fergus Marsh and he suggested I call Mike who I ended up hiring on the spot – solely on the strength of Fergus’ enthusiastic recommendation. A week later, Mike showed up for rehearsals and I haven’t done a band tour without him since.

This Bright Sadness – Review by Brian Walsh |
I’ve been listening to it every chance that I get. I admit it that I first went to listen to your cover of Dylan’s “Everything is Broken”. In my books it takes some balls to cover Dylan and do it well, so I went with a very critical ear. And brother, you nailed it. This is a great cover. Then, having passed muster with his Bobness, I went on to listen to the album. Absolutely wonderful. I love it. I admit it that I’m partial to the blues (It’s Promising Rain is wonderful) and to dark tones in music. I’m also a total sucker for an organ in songs like this.So thanks, Glen, for thinking of me and giving me this wonderful recording. And congratulations on such a wonderful artistic work.Brian WalshI’ve been listening to it every chance that I get. Meeting Carolyn Arends – by Steve Bell |
Carolyn Arends
Years ago when I met Carolyn, Dave (my manager) and I traveled to Dauphin, Manitoba to play at a fairly large Christian music festival. I’d never been a big fan of festivals – not as a performer anyway. I tend to feel a bit lost on a big stage and often the camraderie one might expect to happen backstage between artists well… gives way to posturing and bravado.

Acoustic Christmas – CD Review |
Review from CrossRhythms.co.uk
STYLE: Roots/Acoustic
RATING

DISTRIBUTION: Signpost
FORMAT: CD Album
Reviewed by Matthew Cordle
From the outset the tone of this CD is meditative and conjures up an image of late-night introspection around an open fire. There is a wonderful breathing space in Kevin’s playing, with none of the over-complication that so often characterises Christmas music, neither the excess of “virtuoso” playing that can sometimes dominate guitarists’ music. The arrangements are musically creative and the recording quality is excellent – you can almost imagine Kevin is right there sitting between your speakers as the notes hang like droplets in the stillness. There is a curious shift in the stereo field about two thirds of the way through “Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming” which I’m not sure should be there and “Auld Lang Syne” seems a little out of place to my mind. But other than that there are no weak points at all here. “Away In A Manger” seamlessly combines two of the traditional tunes, the arrangement of “Good King Wenceslas” is beautifully interesting, “What Child Is This?” is Greensleeves with a delicate dash of Spanish flair. Unless you really dislike the acoustic guitar I would thoroughly recommend this CD as a reflective reminder of the Christmas story.

“Subdivisions” live by Jacob Moon…on the roof! |
A few months back, Jacob took a couple of guitars, a big heap of other gear (see the list below) and two cameras up onto the roof of a local theatre, and shot his own extraordinarily creative version of “Subdivisions”, a classic complex tune from Canadian superstars Rush. There aren’t very many musicians with the guts to take on a challenge like that, and even fewer with the talent to pull it off. But pull it off he did. The YouTube video post promptly generated over 60,000 hits, and a response from Geddy Lee himself (the lead singer / songwriter from Rush) letting Jacob know that the band liked what he had done with the tune. You just never know what kind of creative acts might percolate up out of those Signpost artists…

Bent Hope Book Launch with Steve Bell |
Hello everyone – just wanted to let you know about an event next week in Winnipeg that I feel is extremely important and that I am quite excited about – consider this an invitation.
My friend Tim Huff is a street worker in Toronto who has for years sought out the city’s most vulnerable, at-risk homeless teenagers, establishing relationships of trust and care, offering listening friendship, advocacy, simple necessities and an incarnational experience of the love of Christ. I have never met anyone who does this work as tenaciously and tenderly as Tim. His is a remarkable story.
